RICKY GERVAIS returned to host the “Golden Globes” last night . . . for the fifth and supposedly FINAL time. And he made it count, by going at Hollywood pretty hard.  He pretty much called everyone in the room a hypocrite.  He addressed the crowd, “Well, you say you’re woke, but the companies you work for . . . unbelievable.  Apple, Amazon, Disney. If you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech, right?  You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything.  You know nothing about the real world.  If you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your god, and [eff] off.”  In other highlights . . .

TOM HANKS received the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and actually choked up while talking about his family. His speech was great, despite the fact that he’d been wolfing down cough syrup.

PATRICIA ARQUETTE showed off HER Golden Globes while accepting the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie. And she broke Ricky’s rule and went political.

BRAD PITT won Best Supporting Actor for “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, and busted out a “Titanic” joke. After thanking Leonardo DiCaprio he said, “I wouldn’t be here without you man, thank you.  Still, I woulda shared the raft.”

As for the awards themselves, there wasn’t a runaway winner. “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” got the most – 3:  Brad’s award, plus Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy), and Best Screenplay for Quentin Tarantino.

And “1917” won two: Best Motion Picture, Drama, and Best Director.

On the TV side, “Succession” won Best Drama, and “Fleabag” won Best Comedy.

Some individual acting awards went to Brad, Joaquin Phoenix, Renee Zellweger, Laura Dern, in the movie categories . . .

And Patricia Arquette, Stellan Skarsgard, Russell Crowe, and Michelle Williams in TV.

There’s a 61-year-old woman named Linda Donahower from Clearwater, Florida. Last week, she was watching “The Kelly Clarkson Show”. The episode was a look back at the best moments on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” since it debuted in September. Linda’s 51-year-old boyfriend Ronald Meyer wouldn’t stop talking, which was distracting Linda.  She got so annoyed that she PUNCHED him to get him to be quiet . . . and he punched her back. The cops came, and they were both arrested for domestic battery.

Australia is kind of ON FIRE right now. We’re talking hundreds of fires burning millions of acres, consuming some 1,500 homes and killing at least two dozen people so far. Not to mention half a BILLION animals. But some celebrities are doing their part to help.  NICOLE KIDMAN and KEITH URBAN have pledged $500,000 to the effort . . . and PINK is donating the same amount.

In the 2015 movie “Get Hard”, WILL FERRELL plays a pampered hedge fund manager who’s facing hard time, so he hires KEVIN HART to teach him how to survive prison. LORI LOUGHLIN says she and her husband are doing the same thing. They’ve supposedly hired an expert to explain prison life to them so they don’t do the wrong thing. A source says, “Prison is a very different world than Hollywood, and Lori is just trying to be prepared.  She’s preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best.” And Radar Online says Lori is taking things even further, “She’s knuckling down, learning the lingo and practicing martial arts to give off the impression she’s tough and to ward off potential bullies.”

CAMERON DIAZ and BENJI MADDEN started off the New Year by announcing they are parents of a brand new baby girl. They named her RADDIX. “While we are overjoyed to share this news, we also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy. So we won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute!! Some would even say RAD.” They left out one important detail: It seems unlikely that Cameron hid a pregnancy from the world for nine months – so maybe they adopted or used a surrogate. Cameron is 47, and Benji is 40 – this is the first child for both.

LADY ANTEBELLUM announced their Ocean 2020 Tour. It kicks off May 21st in Albuquerque, New Mexico – with JAKE OWEN and MADDIE & TAE opening the shows. Lady A likes to have all the acts perform one song together each night.  So, they met-up at Santa’s Pub in Nashville, and had everybody pitch what song they’d like it to be-by singing it karaoke style. Meanwhile, Jake Owen posted a video Friday on Instagram of the cast on his left arm.  He broke his wrist trying to teach his daughter Pearl what NOT to do on a skateboard.  He promises he’ll heal faster than what the doctors have predicted. A few days before the broken wrist happened, Jake posted a video of himself and Pearl in a makeshift studio freestyling a song about “not bullying.”

By now you’ve heard that CARRIE UNDERWOOD has decided to move on from co-hosting the CMAs. She and Brad Paisley teamed up for 11 straight years, and she co-hosted with Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire last year. It’s pretty clear she didn’t want to make a big deal out of this, because she posted the news last week. She probably didn’t want to hear a million people ask her if she quit because of last fall’s Entertainer of the Year snub.  She did say she’s “grateful” for everyone involved with the CMAs.  She also called Brad her “partner in crime and friend for life” . . . and said being on stage with Dolly and Reba was a highlight of her career.

MIRANDA LAMBERT posted yet another clip of her husband Brendan McLoughlin going shirtless around the house. This time he’s cooking dinner and is “completely surprised” that she’s filming him.
