“Time” magazine put out a series of lists running down the best movies, TV, music, and books of the past decade. Here are a few country highlights:

  1. IN The 10 Best Albums of the 2010s: “The Weight of These Wings” by Miranda Lambert
  2. IN The 10 Best Songs: “Drunk on a Plane” by Dierks Bentley . . . and “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X.

TOM HANKS seemed like the perfect choice to play FRED ROGERS in the new movie “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” and there might be a good reason for that. According to Ancestry.com, they’re SIXTH COUSINS. “Access Hollywood” recently confronted Tom and his wife RITA WILSON and showed them the family tree and they were definitely surprised. Apparently, they share a relative named Johannes Mefford, who was born in 1732. Ancestory.com said, “Mefford immigrated from Germany to America in the 18th century. Johannes raised a family of patriots – 3 of his sons (including Tom Hanks’ and Fred Rogers’s ancestors) served in the Revolutionary War.” Tom said, “It all just comes together, you see, I would like to see if Johnny Depp is related to Fred Rogers.  Can you find out from Ancestry.com?”

“People” did a sweet story on HUNTER HAYES and his two rescue dogs. One is a retired racing greyhound named Cole, who’s very mellow.  And the other is a whippet-beagle mix named Ella, who has become his “shadow.” He says, “When I come off the road, typically it’s Sunday and we’ve been going for weeks at a time or sometimes a month at a time.  My favorite thing to do is to sit in my little corner of the couch. [And] I have both of them on the couch with me, and it’s the best.  And we all binge watch something on Netflix.  It’s phenomenal.”

LUKE COMBS has set another record. 16 songs from his “What You See Is What You Get” album are CURRENTLY on the “Billboard” Hot Country Songs chart.  That tops Garth Brooks, who had 12 songs on that chart back in 1997.  Every every single track on the album spent time on the Hot Country Songs chart.

26-year-old Miley Cyrus mourned more than just the loss of her relationship with Liam Hemsworth this summer. “Very sad to say … my dear friend Pig Pig has passed away,” Cyrus captioned a photo of herself and her beloved pig, Bubba Sue, after her pet passed away in July 2019. “I will miss u always. Thank you for so many laughs and good times girl.” But she just got a new pig and named it Peppa,”

Johnny Galecki from The Big Bang Theory is redeveloping the multicamera comedy Bait and Tackle for the network. The new take revolves around an eclectic group of friends who run a bait and tackle shop in their small hometown of Bainbridge, Georgia. The potential series follows them as they search for love, purpose and happiness in the type of town you can’t wait to leave, but nobody does.

If you’re a sucker for enthusiasm, this fits the bill.  It’s video of CAYLEE HAMMACK on Twitter talking about how thrilled she is to be opening on REBA MCENTIRE’s arena tour.

LAUREN ALAINA has been doing her best to NOT say anything about her ex-boyfriend, JOHN CRIST. 5 women have accused him of sexual misconduct. It’s not clear if any of that happened while they were dating, but if the allegations are true, then you have to think the answer is yes. Any”ET” asked her about him at Monday’s “Dancing with the Stars”. She said, “A breakup is always hard, but I’ve just been really focused on myself and dancing each week and doing my best.” Asked if John has reached out to her, she said, “I have not talked to him recently.  No.  But I wish him and everyone in his story the best.  All I want to do is the right steps on that dance floor every Monday night.” Lauren and her “DWTS” partner GLEB SAVCHENKO advanced to the finals on Monday.
