RONAN FARROW’s new book “Catch and Kill” comes out next week. It’s about his investigation of Harvey Weinstein and how his then-employer, NBC News, tried to put a stop to it. It also includes a pretty serious allegation about Matt Lauer.  In the book, Farrow talks to Brooke Nevils, the former NBC employee whose complaint about Lauer got him FIRED in 2017. The exact nature of her complaint has never been revealed – until now:  She says Lauer raped her in a hotel room during the 2014 Olympics. After this news dropped yesterday, NBC issued a statement saying, “Matt Lauer’s conduct was appalling, horrific and reprehensible, as we said at the time. That’s why he was fired within 24 hours of us first learning of the complaint.  Our hearts break again for our colleague.” Lauer issued a statement saying Nevils is LYING.  He claims that they not only had CONSENSUAL sex in that hotel room, but it was part of an ongoing affair. He also denied the infamous story about him having a button at his desk that locked his office door from the inside. In the book, Nevils admits that she did continue to have sex with Lauer.  She says, “This is what I blame myself most for.  It was completely transactional.  It was not a relationship.” It was actually MEREDITH VIEIRA who encouraged Nevils to go to the higher-ups with her story in 2017. Matt’s former “Today” show co-host ANN CURRY Tweeted that she believes his accuser. And on the show yesterday, SAVANNAH GUTHRIE and HODA KOTB also gave Nevils their support. Matt’s ex-wife is refusing to comment.

“Riverdale” officially wrote off LUKE PERRY’s character on last night’s season premiere. He got hit by a passing car after stopping to help a woman with car trouble.  The woman was played by SHANNEN DOHERTY.

CARLY PEARCE and MICHAEL RAY were supposed to have an outdoor wedding on Sunday, but it rained. Fortunately, the venue had a beautiful refurbished barn from the 1850s . . . so they took it inside.  People.com has photos, plus a clip of the actual wedding . . . and them talking about it.

SCOTTY MCCREERY has been singing since he was a baby. His mom tells a story about their visit to the doctor when he was a one-year-old.  “She looked at him and said, ‘Look, this baby will sing to you.’  Then she hummed a little nursery rhyme to me, and I hummed it back to the doctor.”

Who gets married on a Tuesday? Midland’s MARK WYSTRACH and his fiancée TY HANEY do.  They made it official during an intimate ceremony in Austin, Texas.  The wedding party included the couple’s families. Ty is due to give birth to the couple’s first child next month, so that’s probably why they didn’t make a huge deal out of it.  Plus, Midland is back on tour tomorrow. Mark posted a series of pics on Instagram and captioned it, “Got hitched in a quiet little ceremony and am mighty proud and delighted.”

BLANCO BROWN recently talked about how TIM MCGRAW’s “Don’t Take The Girl” was the first country song that got his attention. He listened to it when he visited relatives in rural Georgia, and it changed his perspective on music. The story got back to Tim, and he loved it . . . so when he heard they were going to cross paths in Australia he reached out.  Next thing you know they’re recording a new version.  Tim dropped the video yesterday.

OPRAH says she never had kids because of all the messed-up people she dealt with on her talk show. “They [were] messed up because they had mothers and fathers who were not aware of how serious that job is.”  And apparently, she didn’t want to be one of those bad parents.
