In a way it kind of sucks that this DIDN’T happen, but SYLVESTER STALLONE and RICHARD GERE almost THREW DOWN over PRINCESS DIANA, according to ELTON JOHN in his upcoming autobiography, “Me”. It happened in the early ’90s, at a party at Elton’s home in London. Richard and Diana ended up, “sitting in front of the fireplace together, locked in rapt conversation.”  Richard was pretty much done with his wife CINDY CRAWFORD by then, and Diana was separated from PRINCE CHARLES. Meanwhile, Stallone was nearby, shooting EYEBALL DAGGERS at them. When it was time for dinner, everyone sat down at the table – except Gere and Stallone.  Elton’s partner DAVID FURNISH went looking for them. He found them in a hallway, “squaring up to each other, apparently about to settle their differences over Diana by having a fistfight.” Things calmed down and everyone ate dinner.  But when they were done, Gere and Diana were back in front of the fire, and Stallone had had ENOUGH. He said, “I never would have come if I’d known Prince “blankin’” Charming was gonna be here.  If I’d wanted her, I would’ve taken her!”  Then stormed out. Elton says, “We managed to wait until his car was out of sight before we started laughing.”

MARTIN SCORSESE got under a lot of people’s skin by saying that Marvel movies are, “not cinema.” He added that he hasn’t seen them, but he, “tried”. He compared them to theme parks and said, “It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.” Among the people who hit back were “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn, who said, “Martin Scorsese is one of my 5 favorite living filmmakers. I was outraged when people picketed ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’ without having seen the film.  I’m saddened that he’s now judging my films in the same way.” SAMUEL L. JACKSON had something to say, too, “That’s like saying Bugs Bunny ain’t funny.  Films are films.  Everybody doesn’t like his stuff either.”

Legendary African-American actress DIAHANN CARROLL died Friday of cancer. She was 84.  With the ’60s series “Julia”, Diahann became the first black woman to star in a non-stereotypical role in her own primetime network show.  She was also the first black woman to win Best Actress at the Tonys.  Comedian RIP TAYLOR died yesterday.  He was 84.  Cassandra Waldon from the first season of “Big Brother” died after a car accident in Rome.  She was 56.

“Joker” was the #1 movie this weekend, with $93.5 million. That’s a record for October.  “Abominable” was a distant second with $12 million. Several people left a screening of the movie in Manhattan’s Times Square on Friday night, because there was a guy in the theater cheering and applauding all the murders. He even spit on some of the people as they were leaving.  And he got belligerent when anyone told him to shut up. One guy who was there saw the man pour an entire bottle of alcohol into his drink.  He says, “This was most likely a harmless drunk guy, but all the nervousness built around the film made [it] really unsettling.” Security eventually came and removed him from the theater.

The son of the man who created “Gilligan’s Island” says he’s close to getting a movie version off the ground and he wants Kevin Hart to play Gilligan. He also wants Steve Martin, Beyoncé, and Jeff Bridges in it.

ERIC CHURCH made one young girl the most popular kid at school last week. 10-year-old Makenna Wallace was at his recent show in San Francisco holding up a sign asking him to sponsor her at the school’s jog-a-thon. He had someone bring it up to the stage so he could read it out loud.  And then he pointed to her and said, “I will sponsor you for your jog-a-thon.  I like your shades, by the way.”  She was wearing aviator sunglasses, just like Eric does. Later in the show he gave her a hug while performing her favorite song, “Springsteen”. After the information was exchanged Eric’s people sent an email to the school saying he and his wife would be sending a check for $10,000.  That was way more than the $735 she raised.

Michael Thompson sought the permit as he believes the grave holds the remains of a person who is not his uncle.  The FBI has said that Dillinger was buried in Indiana after agents gunned him down in 1934 outside a Chicago movie theater.
