Spider-Man is back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sony and Disney agreed to a deal that will have them co-financing another “Spider-Man” movie that’ll be released in 2021. The deal also calls for Spider-Man to appear in one more Marvel movie.
ROBERT GARRISON from the original “Karate Kid” died Friday morning. He was only 59. He was the kid who delivered the classic line, “Get him a body bag! Yeah!”
JUSTIN and HAILEY BIEBER are having an actual wedding ceremony at the Montage Palmetto Bluff hotel in South Carolina today and some hotel guests aren’t happy about it. Apparently, the Montage sent out an email informing them that they can’t use the spa, the pool, or the fancy restaurant on the grounds for 48 hours because of the wedding. These areas became off-limits yesterday at noon, and will stay that way until noon tomorrow. Guests have been offered refunds, alternate bookings, and upgrades to make up for it. Justin and Hailey hopped on a private plane Saturday and had a rehearsal dinner last night.
He’s 20 years old, he’s been hot for less than a year, and LIL NAS X already needs some time off. On Friday, he backed out of two shows and announced he’s taking a breather. He said, “It’s been a wild last 7 months and I’m ready to take a little time off. Sorry to everyone attending twitchcon or the sandbox music festival, I will not be there. I love u guys and will make it up to you some way.” Meanwhile, FIONA APPLE made an Instagram video calling him out for sampling her music without paying her. She didn’t seem THAT bothered by it, though, so it’s not clear if she actually wants him to pay her.
There was a crazy scuffle during the Cleveland / Baltimore game yesterday, when Browns receiver ODELL BECKHAM JR. and Ravens cornerback MARLON HUMPHREY got into it after a play. Marlon took Beckham down and CHOKED him. Odell also reportedly threw a punch. The fight got broken up, and refs flagged both guys, so the penalties offset. But Browns coach Freddie Kitchens is livid that Humphrey wasn’t ejected for choking, “They get away with that because it’s Odell. I’m going to be on the phone with [NFL officials] when I get on the bus.” But the guys IN the fight seem to be over it already. Humphrey said he saw Beckham after the game and apologized and Odell said, “I’m just upset I lost my earring.” The Browns beat the Ravens 40 to 25.
JIM BELUSHI is a cannabis farmer in Oregon now, and he’s developing a Blues Brothers strain of pot. He announced it this weekend at an event at his farm. DAN AYKROYD was there.
The animated movie “Abominable” opened at #1 this weekend, with $20.1 million. “Judy”, starring RENEE ZELLWEGER as Judy Garland, opened in 7th, but played way fewer theaters.
CHRISTIE BRINKLEY posted some pics on Instagram showing the injury she suffered on “Dancing with the Stars”. It was obviously a response to WENDY WILLIAMS, who claimed she faked it to get her daughter on the show.
A lot of people have gotten a little teary-eyed at a GARTH BROOKS concert. Especially if they’ve been listening to him forever and finally got the chance to see him live. Well, it happened to Garth at a Bruno Mars show. He took his wife Trisha Yearwood to one of Bruno’s shows in Kentucky, and they sat in the audience just like regular folks. They did all the usual fan stuff, like trying to make their side of the crowd cheer louder than the other side. And then it happened. He said, “The crazy thing was with Bruno Mars it was the first time ever in my life I got to put the light on my phone and sing. And I cried like a baby the whole time I did it ’cause I’m thinking, ‘Wow, this is what they’re feeling.'”
It’s hard to imagine CARRIE UNDERWOOD doubting her career choice. Well, it’s been 15 years since her “Idol” audition and it was on her mind during her concert in Nashville on Friday. At one point she stopped the show and talked about how she had been preparing herself for a different life. “When I was a little girl – if you’d asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up, I would’ve said I wanted to be a famous country music singer. As I got older, dreams tend to give way to practicalities, so I started going to school to get a real job. One day there was an open door, and I walked through it and my life was changed forever. If there’s something you are holding on to that seems like too big of a dream or something too crazy, I’m living proof that the craziest things can happen, and you can end up exactly where you always wanted to be.”
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are one step closer to walking down the aisle and saying “I Do.” On Friday night, the couple celebrated their love with a lavish engagement party, and of course, it was chock-full of larger-than-life decorations, a star-studded guest and more. Carole Bayer Sager hosted the party at her Bel Air home in Los Angeles. “It was a dimly lit party with candles everywhere, white flowers and purple lighting. It was held both indoors and outdoors.” The famous pair showed up with their kids around 8 p.m. and celebrated their special night with close friends and family.
This song isn’t country, and it’s an unlikely collaboration. Blake Shelton is the featured artist on a new track rap artist Pitbull, “Get Ready.” The tune samples the iconic track “Black Betty”—which has been covered by a number of artists including Ram Jam and Tom Jones—and the overall arrangement features a mixture of pop, country and Latin influences.
CANAAN SMITH and his wife Christy are expecting their first child in November. He’s celebrating it with a new song called “Life Ain’t Fair”, which is a tribute to their relationship. The title is misleading on purpose because the “unfair” part is that he doesn’t deserve her.
LUKE COMBS has been knocking down chart records and now he’s doing it with ticket sales. His February show Lexington, Kentucky sold out in 12 minutes. That beat the previous record of 13 minutes by a guy named Paul McCartney.
THOMAS RHETT, the reigning ACM Male Artist of the Year posed for the cover of the October issue of “Nashville Lifestyles” magazine, wearing a jean jacket, white t-shirt, and ripped jeans. His wife Lauren noticed and bragged about it on Instagram: “Ummm hellooooo honey. I’m so excited to reveal Nashville Lifestyles magazine’s Most Beautiful issue with my handsome hubby on the cover. Looking good babe!” The soon-to-be father-of-three said, “My wife and kids are the most beautiful things in my life”. Thomas is focusing on his VHS Tour which continues through mid-October. His latest hit, “Remember You Young,” continues its march toward the top of the chart.
