KATHERINE HELMOND from “Soap” and “Who’s the Boss?” passed away on February 23rd due to complications from Alzheimer’s. She was 89.  Katherine also voiced Lizzie in Pixar’s three “Cars” movies, and she had recurring roles on “Coach” and “Everybody Loves Raymond”.

 

THOMAS RHETT announced that his fourth album, “Center Point Road”, will be out May 31st. It’s named after the street in Tennessee where he grew up.  There are two collaborations on it, but he hasn’t revealed who they’re with. He performed two songs from the album on “SNL”.  One is called, “Don’t Threaten Me With a Good Time” . . . and the other is the new single, “Look What God Gave Her”.  That one’s a tribute to his wife, Lauren. “[It’s] a celebration of how awesome she is.  She’s so beautiful, but at the same time she’s inwardly beautiful, funny, kind, the best mom I know.  It’s about thanking God for the human being He made.”

 

“Billboard” talked to DAN + SHAY about the stuff they have to have when they’re on tour. For DAN, it’s “pour-over coffee.” “I’m very specific about my coffee.  It’s called a V60.  I brought a separate suitcase for it on the U.K. tour.” SHAY needs his phone and video games.  “‘Golf Clash’ and ‘Clash Royale’ are super addicting games.  I don’t play them at home because they’re distracting for my family.” They each have a go-to drink at the bar.  Dan’s is Tequila soda because it’s low-carb and doesn’t make him tired.  Shay loves beer, especially Guinness.  But if it’s a crazy night, he’ll do shots of tequila. When asked about their favorite musical duo, they both said, Hall & Oates.

 

“Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral” opened with $27.1 million, but that was only good enough for second place at the box office this weekend. “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” held onto the top spot for a second straight week, raking in another $30 million. “Captain Marvel” is expected to debut with $150 million at the box office this coming weekend, but that’s nothing compared to the projections for “Avengers: Endgame”, which is expected to set the all-time record with a $265 million debut next month.

 

Thanks to the Oscars, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “A Star Is Born” soundtrack soared back up to #1 on the Billboard 200, selling another 128,000 copies.

 

JOHNNY DEPP has filed a $50 million defamation suit against his ex-wife AMBER HEARD. He says she lied about him abusing her . . . and also accuses her of cheating on him with ELON MUSK.

 

Jerry Lee Lewis, one of rock and roll’s pioneers, suffered a minor stroke on Thursday night. The 83-year-old, known as The Killer, is expected to fully recover and is currently spending time with his family in Memphis.

 

32 year old Amanda Bynes is being treated by mental health professionals and addiction counselors for drug addiction and mental health issues. Bynes entered a rehab facility in January. The actress had a “relapse” and has been struggling again since the end of last year, when she stepped back into the public eye and began pursuing work in Hollywood again.

 

On last night’s “American Idol” premiere, KATY PERRY revealed that she met ORLANDO BLOOM because he tried to steal her In-N-Out burger.

 

LEONARDO DICAPRIO asked fans to sign a petition to save 100 whales being held captive in Russia, and it apparently convinced VLADIMIR PUTIN to set them free.

 

The Phillies’ introductory press conference for the newly-acquired Bryce Harper was ceremonial without being too regal, but Harper said that he wants to bring a championship to the wrong city. He said “DC”.

 

LINDSAY ELL gave a “thumbs up” after last week’s surgery. She thanked her fans for the well wishes, and her doctors and nurses for getting her in shape for the European tour.  She’s already posting photos from overseas on her Instagram.

 

KACEY MUSGRAVES brought BROOKS & DUNN out to help her perform “Neon Moon” at her show on Friday in Nashville. That’s the duet they do on B&D’s upcoming “Reboot” album.

 

SAM HUNT and his wife are staying warm in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with ROB GRONKOWSKI and ERIC DECKER, and their significant others.
