Lily, a pink Muppet who debuted on “Sesame Street” in 2011, is now the show’s first HOMELESS character. She actually won’t be on TV, though . . . just in online videos.

 

ELLEN DEGENERES recently signed a contract extension to continue her daytime show until the summer of 2020 . . . but in an interview with the “New York Times”, she said she almost turned it down. Ellen says her brother wants her to go on forever . . . arguing the country needs her positive, unifying voice on TV every day. Portia gets mad when my brother tells me I can’t stop.” Portia said “I just think she’s such a brilliant actress and standup that it doesn’t have to be this talk show for her creativity. There are other things she could tackle.  I don’t see the end of her show as her career ending.”Ellen also joked about all the tabloid stories, “I hear Portia and I are divorcing every other week or having a baby or whatever.”

 

TAYLOR SWIFT monitored her fans at a concert in California back in May, with FACIAL RECOGNITION technology. It was meant to protect Taylor’s safety. The images were transmitted to a “command post” in Nashville and the faces were cross-referenced against Taylor’s known STALKERS. Facial-recognition technology is on the rise at stadiums and arenas.  Plus, Ticketmaster is developing a system that can identify fans’ faces as they walk through the turnstiles to make entering a concert quicker and more efficient.

 

JASON MRAZ showed up at a St. Louis hospital to serenade a teenager with cystic fibrosis who’s waiting for a double lung transplant. He sang “I’m Yours” and “Have It All”.

 

MAREN MORRIS and FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE will be performing in New Orleans as part of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” on ABC. Lucy Hale is the New Orleans host.  Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy will host from Times Square, and Ciara is the host in Hollywood.

 

Somebody posted video of LUKE COMBS at a show last week performing a song called “Dear Today”. Luke saw it and Tweeted out the link, saying.  “New song.  It’s not done yet but love y’all to hear the progress.

 

CHRIS JANSON will be doing something special at the Opry tomorrow night. He hit up Instagram to spread the news.  He wrote, “Hosting my first Opry Friday night as an Opry member at The Ryman.  I’m looking forward to it.  Honored is a understatement.”

 

JUSTIN MOORE will be on the Golf Channel this morning on their show “Morning Drive”. He’ll demonstrate his best swing and then work on it using analytic sports technology.  It airs at 10:30 A.M.

 

There won’t be a spring edition of “Dancing with the Stars” in 2019.
