The word is that MAROON 5 is doing the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Nobody’s saying it officially yet. The NFL would only say, “It’s a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show.”
DICKEY BETTS from the ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND fell and “cracked his head” in a freak accident. He’s in critical but stable condition, and is scheduled to undergo brain surgery tomorrow. Dickey will be 75 in December.
AVRIL LAVIGNE released a new song called “Head Above Water”. It was inspired by her battle with Lyme disease, which got really serious. She says, “I had accepted death . . . [I was] praying to God for Him to help me just keep my head above the water.”
DUSTIN LYNCH’S first performance as a bona fide member of the Grand Ole Opry was on Tuesday. And REBA MCENTIRE was there to induct him . . . 41 years and one day since she performed there for the first time. Dustin had our favorite quote of the night in his induction speech, when he dedicated it to the hundreds of people BEHIND the scenes who made his career happen. “There’s a lot of guys and girls here that are responsible for getting our music heard, and getting our music played, and putting us in clothes, so we don’t look like the idiots we are.” That’s the kind of humility you only hear in country. Speaking of Reba, she promised that new music is coming soon.

Shin Lim is the winner of America’s Got Talent! The 26-year-old self-taught magician, who was born in Canada and currently lives in Massachusetts, wowed audiences through sleight of hand magic and close-up tricks. For his final trick, Lim performed a card trick with host Tyra Banks and American Ninja Warrior co-hosts Matt and Akbar.
It’s been almost a year since the Las Vegas shooting. It happened on October 1st, 2017. And there will be a benefit for survivors on October 27th, outside Vegas, with vendors and performers. It’s called Country 58, in honor of the people killed. The organizers want to remember those who were lost, while continuing the tradition of country festivals in Vegas.
