HGTV was the mysterious ‘Hollywood studio’ that outbid LANCE BASS for the “Brady Bunch” house. They’re going to “restore it to its 1970s glory” on a future show. There’s no word how much they paid. Lance is an HGTV fan, so he admitted he was a little less mad knowing that they got it.
CMA Fest is on ABC tonight. All four nights from the festival back in June in a three-hour primetime special. THOMAS RHETT is back to co-host with KELSEA BALLERINI, and they prepared by watching last year’s show – and it was awkward because it’s weird and uncomfortable seeing YOURSELF on video. He says they were both embarrassed watching themselves the whole show. He said, “I was yelling the entire time. Her hand was just moving the entire time.” Guess we’ll find out tonight if they improved.
DIERKS BENTLEY is hosting a music festival in the Rockies over Labor Day called Seven Peaks, and wants all the little details to be perfect, so it becomes an annual tradition. He joked that he’s so into the planning, he’ll have fun even if no one comes. He’s got a ’90s night . . . a ‘beach stage’ by the lake in the middle of the campground, complete with sand . . . plenty of sunblock, ice, and beer . . . and plans to jam and hang out with the campers. He’s making sure there are more female port-a-potties than men’s.
KEITH URBAN went to a convenience store in Jersey before a show on Friday, and the woman in line behind him overheard that he was short five bucks. So SHE offered to buy his food and gas. When he thanked her and said his name was Keith, she made a comment about how he looked like Keith Urban. When he said he WAS, she didn’t believe him and wanted to know where NICOLE was, and why he was there with another woman. Keith explained that he was there with his sister, and even had his bodyguard back him up. They ended up laughing and taking great selfie together. The woman’s a local teacher named Ruth Reed, and she says she couldn’t believe what an idiot she was. She says she pays it forward at that same store every week. She made a resolution to do it three years ago. “I have done that ever since. It is the best. I would encourage everybody to do it because it makes you feel good about you.” In other Keith news, he’s been tapped by Blake Shelton as a ‘Battle Rounds Advisor’ on season 15 of “The Voice”.
CBS is turning the Paul McCartney “Carpool Karaoke” episode into a primetime special. The special will air on Monday, August 20, at 8 p.m. and feature never-before-seen footage of the McCartney segment of “Carpool Karaoke” that aired back in June. In other Beatle news, a guitar played by GEORGE HARRISON during the final BEATLES’ performance at the Cavern Club in Liverpool could sell for $500,000.
ABC has announced it will be airing a 2-hour primetime special celebrating the 90-year history of Mickey Mouse in November. The special will feature musical performances with film, music and television stars that will be announced soon as well as tributes to the character and never-before-seen short films. Mickey Mouse made his first appearance in the black-and-white short film Steamboat Willie, which premiered in 1928
PINK has postponed a third show due to her “gastric virus.”
HUNTER HAYES has a new song called “Dear God”. It’s based on a letter he was writing to himself about self-doubt, that started “Dear World”. But then he realized he was actually writing to God.
WILLIAM SHATNER and Jeff Cook of ALABAMA talked about their country album “Why Not Me?” It comes out this Friday, and ‘the Shat’ says, quote, “Country music is the epitome of reaching out in pure terms from a musical and a lyrical standpoint. It’s that purity that I love.” He also has a Christmas album coming out this year called “Shatner Claus”.
