BLAKE SHELTON was the “big” winner at last night’s “CMT Music Awards”. Two trophies for “I’ll Name the Dogs”.  It won Video of the Year and Male Video of the Year. He also performed on the roof of his Ole Red bar in Nashville. CARRIE UNDERWOOD won Female Video of the Year for her collaboration with LUDACRIS on “The Champion” – her record-setting 18th CMT award. KANE BROWN and LAUREN ALAINA won Collaborative Video of the Year for “What Ifs”.  CARLY PEARCE was in tears accepting the Breakthrough Video of the Year award for “Every Little Thing”.  And she ended it perfectly, saying, “To the guy that broke my heart.  Thank you.”  The show opened with a lame Royal Wedding spoof.  CHRIS STAPLETON sang “Millionaire”, LUKE BRYAN sang “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset”. SAM HUNT started his “Downtown’s Dead” from inside a downtown bar.  And then he took it outside and ducked into a few others before ending up on the big stage.  DIERKS BENTLEY performed in front of real flames while doing “Burning Man”.  He was joined by BROTHERS OSBORNE. Carrie Underwood blow the roof off the place with “Cry Pretty”.  And later KELLY CLARKSON sang “American Woman”. This year’s big finish brought Darius Rucker, Jason Aldean, Charles Kelley and Luke Bryan together to perform “Straight to Hell”.  It’s from Darius’s album, “When Was the Last Time”.

38 year old Walker Hayes and his wife Laney are mourning the loss of their child. In a statement on Instagram and Twitter, he shared the tragic news that their seventh child on the way died on Wednesday, just days before the due date. “It is with great sadness that Laney and I share with you the news that our sweet Oakleigh Klover Hayes was born this morning at the hospital and now is safely in heaven. Thank you for honoring our privacy as we grieve”.  The couple has three daughters and three sons, ranging in age from 2 to 11. “Walker has canceled his immediate upcoming appearances to be home withLaney and their children.

 

Jerry Maren was featured as a Munchkin in the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz. He played one of the three members of the Lollipop Guild (the one wearing green) and handed Judy Garland a lollipop as part of the welcome to Munchkin Land.  Maren passed away at a nursing home in San Diego and reportedly suffered from dementia.  His funeral was held over the weekend at the Forrest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills.  Maren was 98.

Despite a two-year battle with throat cancer that took a serious toll on his health, VAL KILMER WILL return for the “Top Gun” sequel, “Top Gun: Maverick”! The rivalry-turned-friendship between Kilmer’s Iceman and TOM CRUISE’s Maverick is one of the all-time great BROMANCES in movie history. KENNY LOGGINS says TOM CRUISE wants to bring back Kenny’s classic jam “Danger Zone” . . . but with a TWIST. Kenny says, “I’m hoping to do it, maybe, as a duet with a young act . . . We have some feelers out to some pretty cool rock acts.”
