Usually, “The Bachelor” at least waits until the finale is over before he breaks up with his fiancée. But on the final episode last night, ARIE LUYENDYK JR. proposed to BECCA KUFRIN. And that’s not where things ended. They started showing Arie and Becca having secret meetings after the actual show wrapped . . . spending quality time together and enjoying their new relationship. But Arie really WASN’T enjoying it, because he couldn’t get his mind off runner-up LAUREN BURNHAM. Finally, he decided he had to make the switch. He told the cameras, “I really feel like I made a mistake. I’ve had a change of heart.” So Becca was called to a house in Los Angeles, where she THOUGHT she was going to spend a romantic weekend with Arie. Instead, he dropped the bomb. After the breakup footage aired, Becca came out in front of the live audience and told host CHRIS HARRISON they haven’t spoken since. That’ll probably change TONIGHT on the live “After the Finale Rose” special. Last night, the “Hollywood Reporter” asked the very valid question: Is Arie now the franchise’s biggest villain? Meanwhile, several alums from “The Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” hit up social media to blast Arie and the show itself for filming Becca’s blindside. Vanessa Grimaldi said, “I’m disappointed in Arie for not respecting Becca’s privacy. That’s a new low.” But Ben Higgins said “How did this breakup end up on camera? Seems like a private conversation. We don’t belong in this conversation . . . but I’m still watching.”
DUSTIN LYNCH is very disappointed that he didn’t get an ACM nomination and I’m pretty sure he’s the only one who complained about it on video. He posted a clip of himself from last week where he’s in a hotel room in Arizona watching the nominees get announced. He was all-smiles and looking confident, and was even sharing the good vibes with a friend who was on speakerphone. But when they listed the Single Record of the Year nominees, his name didn’t come up. That’s when the smile went away and he started to vent. He said, “Well, we successfully didn’t get nominated again. Career-changing song. I don’t get it. What am I missing? [It] just sucks. It’s like we’re playing with one, maybe two hands tied behind our back. I don’t get it. “[But] it changes nothing about today or how we go about it. Worked freaking hard for this. He was expecting some love for “Small Town Boy”, which spent time at the top of the Country Airplay chart last year.
Are the Pistol Annies are getting back together? Back in January MIRANDA LAMBERT teased about writing some #Maybe-Pistol-Annies music. Well ANGALEENA PRESLEY and ASHLEY MONROE joined her on stage for some shows on her Livin’ Like Hippies Tour. Seems to me like the perfect opportunity to work those songs out, write more music together, and start getting a feel for what they can put into a new album. Miranda’s tour schedule would allow plenty of time for them to duck into the studio before or after she joins the Bandwagon Tour with Little Big Town.
At a pretrial hearing yesterday, BILL COSBY’s lawyers tried to get his sexual assault case thrown out. They failed.
JASON ALDEAN and his wife Brittany went down to the Bahamas for a quick vacation with DEE JAY SILVER and his wife Jenna. They posted some photos and as you’d expect, the Internet either loved them . . . or hated them. Some of the controversy was around Brittany leaving her infant son Memphis too soon. He was born December 1st. On the positive side, she’s receiving props for getting her bikini body back so quickly.
JIM BELUSHI’s wife has filed for divorce after 20 years of marriage.
The inspiration for ERIC PASLAY’s new song “Young Forever” came from Kelsea Ballerini’s husband Morgan Evans. Eric says, “I think they had just gotten engaged, so he was like, ‘We’re gonna live forever and be in love forever’ . . . and just good vibes. This song is about being ‘young’ in every experience.”
KELSEA Ballerini posted a photo of her favorite “travel tools” that she takes on the road. She captioned it, “My picks for staying healthy, feeling trendy, and capturing it all on a trip. Not an ad, just sharing.” We noticed sunglasses, a camera, a passport, Smart Water, and green tea. Beyond that we’re trusting WhiskeyRiff.com. They recognized facial spray, collagen for hair, skin and nails, Chanel lipstick, and eye gels after long nights of traveling.
Many people watched the Oscars on Sunday night. Many did not. Among those not watching was Macaulay Culkin, who offered photos of things he was doing instead of watching. He made ramen and played guitar while wearing a tux. He chimed in with slams and predictions and even a sports reference, tweeting, “Actually, the best original score of the year was New England 33 – Philadelphia 41.”
