There’s about to be a new musical based on Huey Lewis music, called “Heart of Rock and Roll”. It’s not about Huey Lewis . . . it only uses his music.  Huey announced it yesterday in a video with Jimmy Kimmel.

 

BRAD PAISLEY says stylists choose the clothes country artists wear on stage. It’s stuff they’d never wear to Whole Foods.  “We’re all playing a bit of dress up.”

MIRANDA LAMBERT—- “I have the most incredible job in the world, and the fans have just been great.” In the same interview, she talked about being part of the Grammy special “Elton John:  I’m Still Standing”.  It was taped during Grammy weekend in New York City and will air later this year on CBS. “It was incredible.  I got to meet Elton and drink martinis with Bernie Taupin, one of the greatest songwriting teams of all time.  It’s such a cool experience when you meet people that are nice and normal and so iconic . . . it’s so inspiring.” Her contribution is Elton’s “My Father’s Gun”.

 

John Mellencamp, Kacey Musgraves, Chris Cornell, Willie Nelson, Jewel, Elvis Costello, Alison Krauss, and Brad Paisley are some of the artists on the album, “Johnny Cash: Forever Words”. It’s a collection of Johnny’s unknown poetry and letters that were put to music.  It’ll be out April 6th.

 

LUKE BRYAN posted a video where he’s teaching his 7-year-old son Tate how to skeet shoot. They’re in a field and he tells him to “spread his feet a little bit” and “say pull.”  Tate does. . . and hits the target.

 

DIERKS BENTLEY has partnered with a company called Flag & Anthem to create a new lifestyle collection. It’s mostly men’s clothing like hoodies, T-shirts, hats, denim, and jackets.  You can check it out at FlagAndAnthem.com.

 

“American Idol” champ TRENT HARMON recorded a new song called, “You Got ‘Em All”. It was inspired by the news that his longtime girlfriend suddenly planned to move overseas in just a matter of days.

 

The final “Fifty Shades” movie is out this weekend. “Fifty Shades Freed” is up against “Peter Rabbit” and “The 15:17 to Paris” (story of the 3 Americans who stopped a terrorist attack on a Paris train in 2015).

Tonight at 8:00 p.m. on NBC: “The Olympics Opening Ceremony” in PyeongChang, South Korea.

Saturday at 8:00 p.m. on NBC: “Olympics Primetime Coverage”.  ( ladies short program in figure skating and the men’s downhill alpine skiing).

Sunday at 7:00 p.m. on NBC: “Olympics Primetime Coverage”.  (figure skating team event, the women’s giant slalom, women’s snowboarding, the men’s luge, and the women’s moguls).

“Saturday Night Live” is pre-empted because of the Olympics. It’ll be back on March 3rd
