There’s about to be a new musical based on Huey Lewis music, called “Heart of Rock and Roll”. It’s not about Huey Lewis . . . it only uses his music. Huey announced it yesterday in a video with Jimmy Kimmel.

It was taped during Grammy weekend in New York City and will air later this year on CBS. “It was incredible. I got to meet Elton and drink martinis with Bernie Taupin, one of the greatest songwriting teams of all time. It’s such a cool experience when you meet people that are nice and normal and so iconic . . . it’s so inspiring.” Her contribution is Elton’s “My Father’s Gun”.
John Mellencamp, Kacey Musgraves, Chris Cornell, Willie Nelson, Jewel, Elvis Costello, Alison Krauss, and Brad Paisley are some of the artists on the album, “Johnny Cash: Forever Words”. It’s a collection of Johnny’s unknown poetry and letters that were put to music. It’ll be out April 6th.
